About the Founder

Christine Evangelista is the founder and creative director of Evangelista Lingerie, a luxury lingerie house rooted in Italian craftsmanship, storytelling, and the beauty of womanhood in its entirety. With a two-decade career as an actress in television and film and studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology, her work has long been shaped by an interest in intimacy, emotion, human connection, and the interior life of women.

Drawn to the artistry of lace and Italian craftsmanship, she created Evangelista as a meeting place between the sacred and the sensual, a world where beauty is approached with reverence and an understanding of our inner and outer expressions. Evangelista reflects her belief that what we wear closest to the body should feel deeply personal, not simply as adornment but as embodiment.

Inspiration

The brand draws on Catholic ritual and symbolism, its reverence, ceremony, and visual language, reframed through a contemporary spiritual lens.

It challenges the inherited archetypes of virgin and prostitute, sacred and profane, rejecting the idea that femininity must be divided. Instead, it reclaims the feminine divine as whole and self-defined, where sensuality and sanctity coexist. Through deliberate design and refined craftsmanship, tradition is honored while its limitations are transcended.

Artisans

When we say our lace is Made in Italy, we are also acknowledging that we are part of a rare and fading tradition. We choose to work on historic Leavers machine looms—machines that demand time, patience, and extraordinary technical skill—at a moment when much of the industry has shifted toward faster, automated alternatives.

The knowledge required to operate and maintain these machines is increasingly scarce, passed down through a small circle of master artisans, particularly in regions like Como. In many ways, we are a dying breed. But rather than seeing that as a weakness, we see it as a responsibility. Each meter of lace we produce carries the weight of generations of craftsmanship, mechanical expertise, and artistic tradition. “Made in Italy” for us means preserving this heritage—protecting a level of beauty, intricacy, and integrity that cannot be rushed, replicated, or replaced.

Collaboration 1

Evangelista's first artistic collaboration brings together the house's silk pajama collection and the work of Georgian artist Lia Chechelashvili. Her drawing "Orgy" — a torrent of intertwined figures rendered in fluid black line work — is printed across the Eve pajama top in its entirety, collar to cuff.

Chechelashvili's work shares the brand's preoccupation with the body as both subject and symbol. In placing her drawing on a classic pajama silhouette, Evangelista finds its natural territory: art that lives closest to the skin.
